Matt is trial-ready and experienced, but believes strongly in the power of negotiation and consensus building for these sensitive family matters. Finding common ground for co-parenting or asset distribution can help develop new family dynamics to adjust to significant life changes. But, Matt's clients also know that they have an attorney ready to fight for them.

Matt brings a wealth of legal experience to our practice, having spent over a decade representing clients in complex trials, tough negotiations, and appellate and post-judgement work. He has served in a large law firm setting, as a public defender, led his own law firm, and served in social justice initiatives - including representing clients in civil rights and protest cases.

Throughout his career, Matt has built a reputation for compassionate advocacy, thoughtful negotiation, and a deep commitment to serving clients from all walks of life—including members of the LGBTQ+ community, individuals facing mental health and addiction challenges, and families navigating complex transitions.

A graduate of William Mitchell College of Law (cum laude), Matthew is licensed in Minnesota and in U.S. District Court. His approach to law aligns well with our mission: he values efficiency, collaborative problem-solving, and empowering clients with the knowledge and tools to move forward confidently.
Outside of the office, Matthew fosters dogs, plays trumpet in the Minnesota Freedom community band, and enjoys reading, boating, gardening, and knitting. We’re so pleased to have him on board and look forward to the many ways he’ll contribute to our clients and our team.
